Gotta love garage sales

Titus posing in this strange get-up in front of his "new" train table. We went to a couple garage sales Friday and found a whole box of "Crash Test Dummies" cars and trucks. These things are every little boys dream. They are made to explode apart when they crash into things. Not something I could ever be talked into for full price at the store, but a whole box at a garage sale, okay. I also found some bright, primary colored, wooden beads to string on shoelaces. These were mostly for Isabele when she's a bit older, but she likes them as things to look at a chew on right now - the stringing will come later.
At this point, since Isabele was asleep in her car seat, we decided to head over to a sale in Mentone that had a "train table" listed in the ad. Titus had seen a train table with trains at the toy store the other day and we had to pull him away from it, so we were casually looking for some Brio type trains. Well, it was worth the drive. What a deal! The table and a gently used starter set of trains and track plus an add-on set of cars were still there. The price was good and it was 95% Brio. Wow!!

I'm not sure why he needed one of his blankets wraped around his waist and his hat on - kids.

Lillian Olivia

My little sister had her first baby last night. Lillian Olivia Hoover. She weighed 9 pounds, 6 ounces and is 21 3/4 inches long. Hannah had her at home and all is going well. Titus keeps asking when he can go see Cousin Lillian. He told me, after looking at pictures Hannah sent, "Lillian is all done nursing and now she is taking a nap. When she wakes up go see her in Las Vegas on airplane."
I haven't gotten him convinced that we can't go see her right now.
I think I'm going to have to print pictures and put them on the fridge for him.

Clapping

Isabele can clap. I know, not that exciting, but ... She will clap if I say, "Isabele, can you clap?" Of course Titus can clap "loud" as he likes to tell me. He certainly doesn't want Isabele getting all the attention. She crawled over to me this afternoon and clapped - just looking for praise, I'm sure.

I made these 4 Rose of Sharon dolls on a whim this morning. Used toothpicks to hold them together and a funky grass that survived last winter in a pot for arms. Isabele will have fun with these next year.

Here's the white one up close.

Purple princess up close.

Another picture of the dolls.

Flight Helmet

Titus doing thumbs up wearing grandpa's flight helmet out of the Stearman.

Titus wearing the headset and holding the plug that goes in the radio.

You just can't help but smile at his antics.

So Boy.

I was out in the garage looking for glue and clamps to fix Isabele's bed. Titus was with me, of course. As I was looking for said items, Titus was droning on about whatever it is he talks about all the time.
Titus: "Oh, maybe the glue is in there. Oh, maybe the glue is in there. Mommy will fix the engine with the glue."
Me: "No, Mommy is not going to fix the engine with glue. We fix engines with wrenches, and mommy isn't going to fix it right now."
Titus: "We fix engines with wrenches, not glue."
I found the glue.
Titus: "Oh, there is the glue in that box."
Me: "Now where are the clamps?"
Titus: "Maybe the cwampses are over there. Maybe the cwampses are in there."
I continue mostly ignoring what he's saying.
Titus: "Oh, here are the cwampses."
I'm not paying attention. How can he possibly know what clamps are? Then it registers that he said he found the clamps, so I turn around to tell him that those aren't clamps. However he did find the clamps. So, in the house we go with the glue and the clamps.
Titus: "Now we have to use the glue and the cwampses to fix Isabele's bed."

He helped a little. We got the bed glued.

Blueberry picking

Isabele sitting in the blueberry patch.

Here she is after a hard morning of blueberry picking. I'm not sure she found any of the blueberries on the ground. She did find lots of dirt and managed to smash a lot of berries with her bottom. The outfit was Titus' when he was her size and had some permanent stains from him, so I figured it was a good outfit to wear to pick blueberries.

Titus is working hard at eating blueberries.

I've no clue what they are doing here - probably eating blueberries. I didn't intend for them to match. The shirt Titus has on also had some permanent stains ...

Titus had quite the day. He's had his nose wiped a zillion times as he has a cold. Then he was out in the garden with me and picked up the hoe. He ended up busting his lip pretty good with it - that earned him a Popsicle. Then he went to open the deck door so Havoc could come out - mind you, he still has his Popsicle from busting his lip, and Havoc runs into him and knocks him down - lip starts bleeding again, and part of his Popsicle breaks and gets stepped on. At this point, I think all of us adults would have given up and gone back to bed. The 2 year old continues on. In the car on the way to pick blueberries, I accidentally pinched his fingers in the window. What he was doing out of his seat with his fingers in the window, I don't know. Luckily, this was the end of the injuries sustained by Titus on this day. Wonder what tomorrow will bring.
