When Daddy is Gone

Titus has gotten used to Brian being home 95% of the time in the last 6 weeks as the flight department wasn't very busy over the holidays. This evening was the second night in 2 weeks that Brian had to be gone overnight. Titus, almost 3, very tired, and apparently in need of some Dad time, came out of the bathroom after using the toilet dressed in his underpants and socks and a pair of Brian's long underwear that were in the dirty clothes basket.

Not long after that he decided he was cold and asked me for "a daddy shirt so my arms aren't cold. A fuzzy one, like the pants." I found a long underwear thermal style shirt, which was what wee Titus was wanting.

So, dressed in Brian's long underwear, Titus ate his dinner and survived the last 2 hours of the day before falling asleep about 30 seconds after climbing in bed, turning off the light and having me tell him the "Moses story" (Baby Moses in the bull rushes, edited for a 3 year old), and the "Bob Story" (Bob the Builder Counting to Ten).

Kid Comments

Titus:
"Don't worry about it mom. I'm just ..."
To crying Isabele after he just hit her "Sweetie, do you want to nurse?"
Every 5 minutes "What happens if ... ?"

Isabele:
Well, she's not much into real words. Lots of pointing and baby babble which I'm sure will change soon enough into real words.

People Parts

A couple weeks ago, Brian and Titus went to pick up a pizza from Dominos. While they were waiting they went for a short walk and Titus asked what a particular building was. Brian told him it was Zimmer. Titus asked what Zimmer did. Brian told him they made people parts for when people got broken. So started the theory that when a person gets hurt, they go get a people part from Zimmer or Biomet (Titus favors Zimmer, little does he realize that he should favor Biomet as that is who Brian works for). After getting the people part you take it to the hospital so the doctors can put the people part in the broken person. Somewhere in his telling of the story, Titus usually has the hurt person or the people part on a helicopter. Here's how the story went tonight:

I was attempting to finish making dinner and clean up the kitchen while carrying Isabele. Titus was sitting on the counter. Isabele managed to pick up the butcher knife (please don't tell CPS :-) ). I told Isabele she couldn't have the knife and took it away from her. Titus asked, "What happens if Isabele has the knife." I replied, "She will get hurt and bleed." Titus then explained to me, "Oh, if Isabele gets hurt and bleeds then we will put her in the biplane and go to Zimmer and get a people part and go to, um (complete with rolling of eyes at this point) Biomet, no, the hospital and get the people part put in." I asked him, "In the biplane, huh?" He said, "Yup, the biplane."

Titus the sicky

Titus got the stomach flu, complete with a temperature of 102.2. He was sick for about 36 hrs. This is him on day one before throwing up. He was a trooper and very accepting of not being allowed to eat for half a day, and then only little bites and sips. So far, no one else has gotten sick. Maybe we'll be lucky this go round.

Isabele's Purse

Miss Isabele, being herself the other day. I made the sweater for Titus for his first birthday. I think it fits Isabele a bit better than it did Titus. It was a little big on him and then I think I forgot about it until his arms were longer than what hers are right now.
I knit this purse the other evening. I got a new book of patterns that uses only one skein or leftovers from other projects. My intent was that this purse was for me, however, I think Isabele has other plans for the purse.
I know these handles are for something.
I can hold it like this.
It fits her really well. When she puts it on her shoulder the bottom of the purse falls just below her hip. She's cute. I'm not sure if she's going to keep it for herself or if I'm going to use it. I have the feeling that if I try to use it, she's going to take it back.
