We went for our first rowboat ride this afternoon in the rowboat that Brian built several years ago. He just finished building a wooden trailer for it so that we can take the kids in the bugger and the boat on the trailer, all behind bicycles, and go for a ride and row. We went to Pike Lake and had a wonderful time. The trailer needs a few adjustments, but worked well. The kids enjoyed the boat ride. They loved the time they got to spend playing on the beach and in the water.
They were a bit timid at first, but once I explained that they could splash and would not get into trouble, and showed them how to kick the water with their foot ... how I wish I had pictures.
Isabele is a water-bug. She loves it!! She laid on her back and kicked her feet. She laid on her stomach and kicked her feet. She crawled out until she couldn't touch and had to be set up on her feet. She did all of this over and over and over again.
Titus was a bit more timid, but did lay on his stomach and crawled a bunch. He then started throwing a sippy cup out and going to get it and then throwing it out further. I wasn't paying a lot of attention, but did see him go to get it and loose his balance. He got a face full of water and came up sputtering and on the verge of disastrous tears. We managed to avoid the crisis by me telling him he did a great job, exactly what he should do when falling in the water - STAND UP!!
I think we will spend a lot of time at the beach this summer. Pike Lake is particularly nice. There is playground equipment right on the beach. The beach is just sand and there didn't seem to be any muck - at least as far out as the kids can go. There is also a diving board off the end of the pier for the more adventurous.
Hopefully next time I'll get some pictures!

Pictures from Grandma LeMasters Funeral
Just thought I'd add these, as I print the book at the end of the year. Catherine Marie Ransburg LeMasters (my father's mother) died on May 8, 2010. She was 90.

Today's Recycled Creation
I have 10 yards of fabric sitting on my ironing board waiting for me to decide what I'm making out of any or all of it. And what did I do today? I made a shirt for Isabele. The fabric came from an old skirt that belonged to Grandma Bolinger - it was destined for Goodwill ... My mother pulled the lace off of old pillowcases - it has been sitting in a bag in my sewing stash. The bias binding - I made a bunch of it for another dress I made for Isabele and have a bunch left.
I had fun creating this and using up stuff that was no longer useful in it's original form.
The Front.
The Back.

Isabele's Dress This Morning
Nana gave Isabele this dress at Titus' birthday in January. The leggings - well it's only the beginning of May and at present it's 53 degrees outside. And - if you saw all the colors on her knees, a little extra padding for them isn't a bad thing. Isabele insisted upon wearing the shoes. Here's the finished product.
She found a bias tape maker in my thread box this morning. That is what she is carrying around.

The kids were being sweet yesterday and sat together in the computer chair while watching "Mike Da Mustang". They both get a kick out of this little movie on the computer.
